This Vegan Matcha Banana Smoothie is creamy, refreshing & super energizing thanks to the matcha and coconut water. An all natural matcha energy drink made with just 3 simple ingredients!

Sooo truth be told, I was actually never a huge smoothie person- but my boyfriend (Eric) is. Personally, I prefer to start my mornings with whole fruits and things like Cornbread Waffles, Strawberry Chia Pudding or some French Toast Granola. But this guy is always down for a smoothie so every time I make him one (which is almost everyday), I always end up drinking the left overs. It's kinda got me into diggin' the whole smoothie thing, which is why and how I came up with all the High Protein Vegan Smoothie Recipes for my free e-book (which you can get here)!

I usually like to have smoothies early in the morning or right before my workout. I used to drink a iced coffee or iced matcha latte before my workout, but this has been my new go-to pre workout drink! It has only 3 main ingredients:
- coconut water - has natural sugars, it's hydrating and contains electrolytes
- frozen banana - natural sugars and carbs
- matcha powder - some caffeine and a ton of other health benefits
It's basically a all natural energy drink! Sometimes I'll swap out the coconut water for soy milk and it literally tastes like Korean Banana Milk with a bit of green-tea-ness to it. I'll also throw in some extra fun things like chia seeds, dates and greens powder and change it up day to day.

Quick Matcha Facts
I grew up with matcha everything: cake, cookies, desserts, mochi, tea, ice cream, pancakes... so it's crazy to me how much matcha has been poppin' since 2015- the trend has skyrocketed! But I can totally see why, this 'superfood' not only tastes bomb but it's packed with health benefits! Here's a few of my favourite benefits:
- the antioxidant content is HUGE
- mood enhancing properties
- it's rich in chlorophyll & vitamins
- & has potential cancer preventing properties!!!
If you've tried matcha and don't really like it, I think smoothies are an amazing way to still include it in your diet. You can add in some cocoa powder or berries to mask the taste and it pairs quite well with these flavours. BUT if you DO like matcha, you'll LOVE this Matcha Banana Smoothie recipe!
