This Cold Tofu with Spicy Chili Sauce recipe is fresh and flavourful with the right amount of heat. A no-cook easy to make dish ready in under 5 minutes!

Growing up, I always watched my mom and grandparents eat chilled tofu with some kind of sauce poured over it. They would say "this is one of the best dishes, it's so easy and quick to make and perfect for lazy people like me". They even had dessert kinds with black sesame tofu and a sweet soy sauce. I never was into that until I had the chance of trying a Spicy Korean Tofu dish that was served chilled awhile back while I was still in school and ever since then, I've loved eating chilled tofu. I often found myself reaching for this dish, especially after 9pm classes because it literally took 2 minutes to make! I always changed up the sauce depending on what I had on hand, but found myself always coming back to this Korean inspired Spicy Chili sauce.

Ingredients to make Spicy Cold Tofu
- soy sauce
- chili bean sauce OR gochujang
- sesame oil
- rice vinegar
- sugar
- garlic
- scallions
- sesame seeds
Although I used a Chinese chili bean sauce, because this was very much inspired by the one I had at the Korean restaurant so I'll consider it to be a Chinese-Korean fusion kinda spicy sauce recipe. I have also made with with gochujang and it's just as delicious! Just make sure to cut back on the amount because gochujang tends to be a lot spicier IMO.

How to make Cold Tofu with Spicy Chili Sauce
- Open a pack of soft tofu and cut out a portion (if not done already) and place on a plate.
- Mix all the dressing ingredients together and pour over the tofu.
This no-cook tofu recipe can't be any easier!

To make it a complete meal, serve it with some rice or another main dish. You can even use this spicy tofu sauce as a dressing and throw in some firm tofu to make a easy tofu salad.

I was looking for a recipe to recreate the cold spicy tofu I ate at my favorite Japanese restaurant growing up and this EXACTLY fits the bill! It’s so good but so simple and you most likely have all the ingredients in your pantry already! Highly highly recommend.

I tried this the other night and it turned out great! I used gochujang instead and it had great flavor! I used extra firm tofu, but I’m going to try soft next! Super delicious and quick!
