I love eating fresh fruits in the summer, but now that the weather has cooled down I’ve been craving cooked fruits. My favourite thing about cooked fruits is that they become tender, super juicy (like drip-down-your-chin juicy) and the flavour becomes intensified. This is perfect for the cooler months when the fruits are not ideal.

Today I’ll be sharing my new favourite way of cooking fruits… using the one and only… AIR FRYER. Yes. Air Fried Fruits. Specifically stone fruits because peaches and nectarines are slowly going out of season but plums are beginning to hit the grocery stores for cheap.

Air Frying fruits is super easy, quick and caramelized fruits to perfection without the use of oil or butter! It’s crazy delicious over oatmeal, yogurt, whipped coconut cream, with a scoop of ice cream or even on its own. I’m SOOO excited to share this method with you so lets dive right in shall we?

What You Need to Make Air Fryer Caramelized Stone Fruits

Appliances:

The only appliance you need is an air fryer. I highly recommend purchasing a air fryer if you haven’t already. It’s my most used appliance in the kitchen right now because it’s quick, easy to use and easy to clean. I’ve owned a couple different air fryers and I’ve been currently really liking the OMARC one. I also own a bigger one from COSORI which is great for when I’m making a couple servings.

Ingredients:

I also like to add a pinch of cinnamon and salt for more flavour!

How to Caramelize Fruits using a Air Fryer

I’ve caramelized fruit on a skillet, grilled peaches on a griller and roasted fruit in the oven. I can confirm that the air fryer method is the easiest and quickest way to achieve perfect tender, juicy and caramelized fruit. Plus, no need for any butter or oil!

It’s just 4 simple steps: Halve the stone fruit. Brush some maple syrup. Sprinkle with coconut sugar. Air fry.

You can even skip the coconut sugar, but I find that it just adds another depth of that roasted deep caramelized flavour everyone loves.

If you’re wondering if you can do this with other fruit, yes– you can! I’ve made with with bananas and pineapple using very similar steps.

What to Serve Air Fryer Caramelized Stone Fruits With

These tender juicy caramelized stone fruits can be served in so many ways. Here are some of my favourite ways to serve up caramelized stone fruit:

  • caramelized peaches with coconut whip cream, nuts & granola (pictured)
  • caramelized plums with yogurt and granola (pictured)
  • topping them on to a smoothie bowl
  • serve with a generous scoop of ice cream
  • use them as toppings in oat meal, pancakes and waffles
  • swirling them into banana ice cream

and really, they taste amazing even on its own. And, I love that I can enjoy them for a healthy breakfast or dessert!

Description

Air Fryer Caramelized Stone Fruits are tender and juicy with a deepened intensified flavour. Just 3 ingredients needed to make this healthy breakfast or dessert. Serve with oatmeal, yogurt, ice cream, pancakes, waffles and more!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lbs / 2-3 stone fruits such as peaches, nectarines, plums or apricots
  • 1 tbsp Maple syrup
  • 1/2 tbsp tbsp Coconut sugar
  • 1/4 tsp Cinnamon, optional
  • pinch of salt, optional

Instructions

  • PREPARE AIR FRYER: Cut a sheet of parchment paper that will fit the floor of your air fryer basket and then place inside the basket.
  • PREPARE FRUIT: Slice the stone fruit down the middle and remove the seed. Then brush some maple syrup on the flesh and sprinkle with some coconut sugar. Add in a pinch of cinnamon and salt if desired.
  • AIR FRY: Place the stone fruit in the air fryer basket and air fry at 350 for 15 minutes or until caramelized.*

Notes

Depending on your air fryer and the type of fruit you used, you may need more or less time. Start with 8 minutes on your air fryer and work your way up until your fruit has caramelized to your liking. Peaches and nectarines tend to need more time (around 12-15 minutes), whereas plums and apricots need around 5-8 minutes.

  1. How much time does it usually take to prepare this dish? It seems that it won’t require hours spending in the kitchen.
